Cigarette Smoker
1997. Corian and cigarette holder. Precarious ash is terminated with a glowing "ember" that is intended to look like one long, last drag on a cigarette. The two "grain of sand" bulbs in the center of antique velvet eye sockets glow continuously. The laminated, carved Corian was modeled after a real human skull.

Homage to Horace
1997. Mixed media. When the crank on the base is turned, a bellows is activated, and Horace puffs smoke from the pipe via a model railroad engine smoke generator. French glass eyes are covered by leather eyelids, making them appear to be in a dream-like state. The hat, which inspired this sculpture, belonged to a gentleman friend of Peter's mother-in-law, who died of emphysema.
